三、摘要

Motivated by the challenges of climate change, research in the circular economy has become one of the hottest topics attracting attention from researchers with various backgrounds. The Circular economy is “a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible” that aims to address global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, waste and pollution. It is believed the power of digital technologies can be leveraged to support the circular economy effectively. There have been various researches aiming at applying digital technologies to enable information to travel with a product. These technologies will allow the user to identify a product and capture, store, share and analyse data throughout its lifecycle. In this introductory presentation, the concept of circular economy and its relevant digital applications will be discussed aiming at inspiring interest in further in-depth research in the subject.

四、主讲人介绍

Xiaofei Cui, doctor, senior engineer, doctoral supervisor. She ia a Principal Project Leader from TWI Welding Institute, based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. She is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) approved by Engineering Council. She is an experienced asset risk and reliability engineer and product life cycle manager with a track record of managing and delivering high-profile projects. Her MSc is in the subject of pipeline engineering and PhD research is in the area of production optimisation in naval architecture, ocean & marine engineering. She has been involved in hands-on asset operation, product life cycle and integrity management consultancy. In addition, she has been leading the development of various prestigious national and international funded collaborative projects worth over 30 million euros. Her technical interest includes engineering management science, asset risk and reliability analysis, data-driven techniques, decision support, and product life cycle sustainability. Her experience also includes mentoring young engineers and supervising PhD and MSc students.
